We are considering the name Riya, Rhea, Ria or Reah for a Hindu Indian baby girl. Which is the best spelling. Does it sound muslim or African American?
Need a short sweet hindu punjabi Indian name for baby girl.?
Hello there. :)
Congrats on the baby girl!
I like Rhea and Ria for spelling for that name. If you pronounce it and spell it Ria (ree-ahh) I think it sounds more Muslim. If you pronounce it and spell it Rhea (ray-ahh) I think it sounds more African America. Either way, it's quite pretty, has Greek origins, and means Earth. I like that name but here are some other suggestions... I know you asked for short and sweet but 2 or less syllables did not find a large amount of names. I searched three or less but the recommended below are simpler or easy to find a nickname for.
Indian Origin:
Aabhal means sparkling.
Bindi means beautiful.
Devi means God.
Punjabi Origin:
Guneet means virtuous.
Harleen means within the love of God.
Jasmeet means glorious friend.
Sanskrit Origin:
Abha means splendor or beauty.
Bala means strength.
Chanda or Chandi means compassion or fierce.
Arabic Origin:
Aafrah means happiness.
Basma means smile.
Cala means strong.
Hope I helped! ~Lori
