What is the name of the Hindu holy book?

There are several texts. The Upanishads are the oldest and most mystical. The Mahaburata has all the stories. (The Baghavad Gita is a part of it.) And the Vedas are the most philosophical.

What is the name of the Hindu holy book?
The Vedas are the prime book of knowledge on which primary Hindu beliefs stands. As per the Vedantic embodiments Hinduism is monotheistic . But the Vedantic beliefs went under much transformation and became gradually polytheistic in character. Strictly speaking Vedas are the foundation stones on which Hinduism has flourished but when Hinduism became polytheistic in character because of other doctrines and belief systems got attached to Hinduism in course time. So after Hinduism attaining polytheistic character holy scriptures like the Geeta and Ramayan took the centre stage and the Vedas took a back seat.
Reply:The vedas are the common holy scripture for the Hindus, but in Hinduism there is not exactly a text that is a must for the follower.
Reply:i don't think they have one .only jews ,christians ,and muslims have one because they aren't man made religions ..the others have teachings and stuff but no holy books
